Cherie Tolliver graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a master’s degree in music education. For the next thirty-three years she taught instrumental music and computer technology to Ohio high school and middle school students. Early in life she became fascinated with the images in National Geographic magazine and as an adult she has become interested in developing her own photographic skills. Most of her images involve engaging light in natural settings. Cherie also enjoys travel and active adventures. When at home she is surrounded by the stunning red rocks of Sedona, Arizona.  Her photography has been published and exhibited in newspapers, magazines, web sites, galleries and fine art shows in both Ohio and Arizona. Cherie feels honored that several of her images have been selected for the prestigious Sedona Arts Center Juried Members Exhibitions. In 2013 her print “Fall Palette” was selected as the first place winner of the emerging photographers division. Her image “Swift” was chosen as first place winner in the 2014 emerging artist division of the Sedona Arts Center Juried Members Exhibition as well. Several of Cherie’s award-winning images from the Keep Sedona Beautiful competitions have also been on display at the Sedona Arts Center.

About her work Cherie says, “ I have a passion for capturing and sharing images from a wide variety of sources. I enjoy exploring familiar and new subjects ranging from the subtle to the grandiose. I use the magic of available light to capture images that show an appreciation for nature’s ever changing moods. I would like to invite the viewer to actively experience the image on a personal, emotional and intellectual level. I hope that, among my images, you will find a few visual gifts and treasures that encourage you to feel a sense of wonder, reverence and delight for the beauty around us.
